This unique 250-kilometer experience will have you pedaling for hours through awe-inspiring landscapes, with the majestic Paine mountain range as your constant companion. The iconic Towers of Paine, Cerro Almirante Nieto, Los Cuernos del Paine, and the towering Paine Grande will dominate the skyline as you head toward the Lago Porteñoarea.
As you move westward, you’ll feel the breeze descending from the Southern Patagonian Ice Fields, with the mighty Grey Glacier—one of the fastest-retreating glaciers in Chile—standing as a stark reminder of nature’s shifting forces.
The rolling hills will offer you visual pauses with views of Cerro Tenerife, an iconic peak visible all the way from Puerto Natales. You’ll then turn left onto drier gravel roads, heading toward the protected Laguna Sofía. Embedded in its rock face lies the legendary Cueva del Milodón, where remains of the extinct milodón were found—an animal of great historical significance to the region.
The Baqueanos Race passes right in front of the cave entrance. From there, you’ll take a right turn onto rolling gravel terrain with gentle climbs, avoiding the same route you set off on at 7 AM. Finally, you’ll connect with the paved road that leads straight to your finish line.
